Grenache Gris rosé ($18.00) also known as Con descend and Linger because, at least in one interpretation, people condescend to drinking a rosé but they will linger with this one. I don't know why people resist pink wine, maybe it's because so many of the California rosé wines are sweet and known as blush.(I actually made one once, called it Bride's Blush and sold it to people who were about to be hitched--not my finest hour) but I am very impressed with Kerry's product, a strawberry in the nose dry wine made from old vine grenache gris that is exactly what it is supposed to be: a food and palate friendly wine with great flavor. I predict it will sell out quickly.
Like the lips of a beautiful jazz singer, Condescend & Linger rosé is soft, supple and fruity, with an alluring hint of smoke. This bottle is from a small batch of lovingly handcrafted wine made by apprentice winemaker Kerry Kirkham from old vine grenache gris, a traditional Rhône varietal for French style rosé. True to classic French form, this wine is unoaked and has been fermented totally dry. For maximum drinking pleasure, drink it cool rather than cold to allow the delacate qualities of grenache to be enjoyed by your senses. |
